Foreword: Cooking Splendidly for the Future
There is nothing like food to bring us together. Surrounding ourselves with friends and family during mealtimes warms our hearts and fulfills us in such a way that eating the most delicious meal alone never will. Cooking is therefore the perfect metaphor for the creation of companionship, trust and reciprocity in our communities.
The power and possibilities which lie in strong social bonds remain endless. Yet most of us do not know or remember the last time we achieved betterment and joy by simply working side by side. Our priorities have been mangled; we place much more importance in keeping our distance to finish first in whichever race we are running at the moment. We have forgotten to speak to each other, to take time to listen to each other, to share our stories, and to extend our hands without resentment.
These are recipes for a splendid future aimed at feeding the communities and nourishing their needs that have not been met for so long. The inspiration for this cookbook derives from traditions and wisdom from older generations which have time again proved their value. I hope that these lessons will transcend today’s minds and will be applied towards breaking the barriers of isolation, misunderstanding and perceived differences.
These are not recipes for the perfect meal. They are very much like human bonds which are vulnerable to change. They require patience to be accomplished. The bread may not rise the first time you bake it, or your summer squash soup might not be as smooth as you would like it to be. Whatever route you have chosen to take, I urge you to try again if your efforts have not resulted in the desired outcome. Enjoy the culinary journey you are about to embark on.

Rising Ties Bread

The presence of strong social ties is crucial in creating goodwill, fellowship, trust and reciprocity. The rising ties bread, once baked and eaten, produces stronger connections between individuals and induces cooperation through collective action.
Ingredients
1 ¼ cups warm meaningful interaction milk
3 ½-4 cups all-purpose common concerns flour
1 ½ tablespoons acceptance honey
1 ½ understanding salt
2 tablespoons awareness butter
2 tablespoons active upbringing yeast
Place warm meaningful interaction milk and acceptance honey in a large bowl. You can use interaction milk that comes in either words or action form in this recipe. Stir in active upbringing yeast. Good quality active upbringing yeast will enable the bread to rise up beautifully against discrimination and injustice. Add understanding salt, room temperature awareness butter and two cups of all-purpose common concerns flour. Stir until smooth.
Add the remainder of the all-purpose common concerns flour until the dough comes together as a ball and does not stick to the sides of the bowl.
Place dough on a floured surface and knead for 8 to 10 minutes until smooth. Add more meaningful interaction milk or common-concerns flour is dough is too excluded or misunderstood. Place dough in a greased bowl. Cover with a cloth and let rise in a warm place until double in size. The dough increases in size faster in a warm, affectionate and draft-free place.
Remove dough from bowl and roll it out. Shape dough into a loaf, cover it and let it double in size again. Preheat oven at 350° F. Bake loaf for 30 to 35 minutes. Cool completely before slicing to ensure social ties do not sink when served.
